Inqubeko Consulting Engineers is a Consulting Engineering practice established in Zululand (Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal) region in 2005, created by Mr. Freek Pretorius (Pr Eng), a former director of VGC Consulting Engineers in Richards Bay.  In 2007 Mr. Jaco Claase (Pr Tech Eng)  joined the company as a director mainly concentrating on structural projects. The company is managed from two small offices situated at Empangeni and Richards Bay.

Mr. Pretorius has been involved in numerous projects in the Zululand area since 1990 and has extensive experience in various fields of Civil Engineering.  Mr. Claase has been working in the industrial environment since 1996 being involved in numerous structural projects at large industries (Bayside Aluminium, Hillside Aluminium, Ticor, RBM, Foskor) and at various residential and commercial projects.

The company has also recently associated with a specialist Mechanical Engineer, Mr. Hannes Minnaar who has extensive experience in the industrial project field having been involved in the design and construction of the local Exxaro (formerly Ticor) heavy mineral project.  Mr. Minnaar is mainly operating from an office in Mtunzini.

Although a relatively small concern at present, the principle of networking with various collaborators (surveyors, other consulting companies) and specialist draughting companies, allows for fair sized projects to be successfully accomplished.

Inqubeko Vision is to establish and grow a truly South African Consulting Engineering Practice, delivering professional design and project management services in the industrial and public sector in the Zululand and surrounding regions. Hence the name INQUBEKO meaning “progress”, further with the relation to the word “isiqu” meaning “root” from which all growth emanates, and further hinting towards our roots in Africa.
